1. Can you please introduce yourself?

Hello, I’m Sushant Rajput, a management professional and author. I hold an MBA in Marketing & Systems and have over 20 years of experience in pre-sales, solution designing, and process consulting across IT/ITES industries. I currently work with HCL Technologies and also serve as a visiting professor at various MBA institutions. I’m passionate about research in consumer behavior, international marketing, and emerging technologies.

2. When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

I first realized I wanted to be a writer during my early career days. I found myself constantly wanting to share the practical insights and experiences that were rarely discussed in academic settings.

3. How long did it take you to write a book?

From inception to hitting the bookstore, the entire journey took over a year.

4. What is your work schedule like when you’re writing?

When I’m writing, I maintain a disciplined schedule, dedicating early mornings and weekends to writing. I find these times to be the most productive and free from distractions.

5. Do you have any suggestions to help me become a better writer? If so, what are they?

Certainly! Read extensively and write regularly. Don’t hesitate to seek feedback and be open to constructive criticism. It’s also important to stay curious and keep learning.

6. How do books get published?

Books can be published through traditional publishing or self-publishing. In traditional publishing, you typically work with an agent who submits your manuscript to publishers. Self-publishing involves taking control of the entire process, from editing and design to marketing and distribution. I opted for the self-publishing mode as it gave me more freedom in terms of a lot of decisions and considerably a huge amount of share in terms of royalties.

7. Where do you get information or ideas for your books?

I draw inspiration from my professional experiences, interactions with colleagues, and observations in the corporate world. I also conduct thorough research to ensure my books are informative and relevant.

8. When did you write your first book and how old were you?

I wrote my first book in my mid-thirties. It was a culmination of years of professional experience and a desire to share practical insights with others.

9. What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

When I’m not writing, I enjoy reading, traveling, and exploring new technologies. These activities help me unwind and often spark new ideas.

10. What does your family think of your writing?

Unfortunately, my parents have passed away. However, when they were there with me they were extremely supportive of my writing. They encouraged me and often provided valuable feedback on my work. Their support means a lot to me and motivates me to keep writing.

11. What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?

One of the most surprising things I’ve learned is how much readers appreciate practical advice and real-life anecdotes. It reinforces the importance of authenticity and relatability in writing.

12. Do you hear from your readers much? What kind of things do they say?

Yes, I hear from my readers quite often. They often express gratitude for the practical insights and guidance my books provide, and some share how my advice has positively impacted their careers. A lot of them have also given constructive advice on how the call to actions that I’ve provided at the end of each chapter could have been better. This feedback is incredibly rewarding and motivates me to continue writing.
