‘City Life and Soul’ by Saheli Dey

In the dance of countless boats, I’ve tried out my fate,
Alone, head held high, chasing sun’s warm embrace.

False pride echoed in footsteps, a weary song,
A firefly with the prettiest smile, posed questions strong.

“God or man? What will you be?” She asked with soft glow,
Love’s measure, a thousand or one, will you ever know?

Golden dawns witnessed as I fall again and tried,
With empty hands I looked for these answers and sky!

Amidst moments, days, and years, she emerged in me,
Holding me she asked again, “Love, what do you want to be?”

I surrendered to her river’s bend, for songs of liberty,
In her arms, I felt alive, and kissed life’s decree.

Well finally, I belong to her, I feel happily undone,
City life, farewell, I leave, take care of your sun!
