in the suburban fields of my archetypal childhood
there arose strange shudders of unintended violence
within my breast brought on by the rhubarb beating
i withstood one afternoon on the way home from ccd at
saint patricks roman catholic school among the filthy
willows that grew on the slippery banks of salisbury creek
at the hands of that rat bastard bully pat carfagna who
years later
i would accidentally bump into while playing baseball
on a sandlot diamond in james edgar park on the bad edge
of town wondering whether he really had been in reform
school all this time when my right hand swiftly bricked
itself into his face with the force of modern european
history the first & only time in my life to the utter
astonishment of myself & every one of my friends
