‘By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept’ was so close to my heart. Every time I gathered the courage to read a few pages, I found myself breathing deeply and weeping. It touched something sacred within me.”
“The heart decides, and what it decides is what truly matters.”

As I begin to explore the story of Pilar, how she cries going to the river Piedra and reflects on life, mentioning the month of autumn, the struggles she faces felt like I was reading my own life stories there.
I read this book in the beautiful month of autumn and enjoyed the sound of the river while reading this book and the mention of the mountains, rivers, seas, trees and travels; these all were happening to me on my journey to Tso Rolpa, one of the biggest glacial lakes in Nepal.
“We have to listen to the child we once were, the child who still exists inside us. That child understands magic moments. We can stifle its cries but can never silence its voice.
Eventually, she waited all her life to be loved and live with the love of her life. Her love won his heart because he was about to become part of a seminarian, a priest who can never marry but needs to devote all his life to healing and serving others by performing miracles. He was in a dilemma whether to leave the life he desired to witness the woman he loves or be with her forever. This chaos in his heart is calmed by this woman’s unconditional love and faith that her love will save him. And by the Piedra again she goes and weeps.
