Hemlock Journal Announces 20% Discount on Fiction Writing Contest Entry Fee

Hemlock Journal invites writers to answer the Call of the Wild with a special limited-time discount on its Fiction Writing Contest entry fee. To encourage more voices and stories rooted in the natural world, the submission fee has been reduced by 20%.

The entry fee, earlier $5, is now $4. For Indian writers, the fee has been reduced from ₹350 to ₹280.

This year’s theme, Call of the Wild, seeks fiction that rekindles our bond with nature and reflects on humanity’s place within it. Writers are invited to submit Eco Fiction, Climate Fiction, Apocalyptic or Post-Apocalyptic Fiction, Nature Writing, Pastoral Writing, Wilderness Fiction, or any imaginative work that makes readers fall in love with the natural world again.

Submission Guidelines

  • Word Count: 1,000 to 3,000 words
  • Theme: Call of the Wild
  • Genres: Open within nature-centric fiction
