The Hemlock Journal – Issue 10 Submission Statistics

We are excited to share the submission statistics for Issue 10 of The Hemlock Journal, and the response from writers and artists around the world has been truly encouraging.

Compared to Issue 09, submissions for Issue 10 increased by an impressive 36%, reflecting the growing reach of the journal and the vibrant community that continues to support it.

Genre Diversity

This issue saw a wide range of creative work across multiple genres. The distribution of submissions was as follows:

53% Poetry

37% Fiction

6% Visual Art

4% Non-fiction

Expedited and Editorial Feedback

A notable portion of contributors chose additional editorial options. 16.5% of submitters opted for Expedited Response, Editor’s Feedback, or both, indicating strong interest in receiving quicker decisions and editorial insight.

Global Reach

One of the most exciting aspects of this submission cycle was its global diversity. Submissions came from all seven continents and a total of 34 countries.

The largest share of submissions came from:

49% – United States

21% – India

5% – Canada

4% – United Kingdom

In addition, we saw submissions from several countries appearing for the first time in our journal’s history. These included Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Malaysia, Singapore, Cyprus, Mozambique, and Eswatini, among others across Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

This expanding geographic reach reflects the growing international community of writers and artists engaging with The Hemlock Journal.
