BOOK REVIEW of Manoj Bhuraria’s ‘How Our Children Brought Us Up’

I read this amazing book “How Our Children Brought Us Up” by Manoj Bhuraria, and it’s been such an eye-opener! Growing up in a traditional Indian family, effective communication was never a priority.

Picture an Indian mother scolding her child for not completing household chores or for getting 90% on a test instead of 99.9% – that’s what typical Indian parenting looks like. While it may seem amusing, it’s not very effective.

But this book offers practical parenting methods and valuable lessons for parents in a clear and relatable way, drawing from the author’s experiences raising his kids. It’s full of personal anecdotes and simplifies complex parenting concepts.

Although I wished there was a chapter summarising all the lessons, the book is a valuable resource for new parents looking to break the cycle of generational trauma and provide their children with the upbringing they deserve.

If you’re exploring your parenting style, this book is a great place to start. Grab a copy, get comfortable, and dive into the rewarding journey of parenting. Remember: Parenting isn’t a duty; it’s an experience to cherish!
