Call for Submissions: The Hemlock Writing Contest Volume 2 – POETRY WRITING CONTEST

The Hemlock Writing Contest is back with its highly anticipated second volume, and we are calling all poets from around the world to participate in this celebration of the written word.

Volume 2 of The Hemlock Writing Contest invites poets to submit their original, unpublished poems on the theme of Love. Love is a timeless theme, offering endless possibilities for expression—whether romantic, familial, spiritual, or any form of love that resonates with you. This contest is an open invitation to explore and share your personal interpretation of love through poetry.

Prizes and Recognition

First Prize: The winner will receive a cash prize of 75$ or 6,000 Rs., a certificate, publication in The Hemlock Special Issue, and an exclusive interview where they can share their creative journey and insights with fellow poetry lovers.

Second Prize: The runner-up will receive a cash prize of 25$ or 2,000 Rs., certificate, publication, and an interview.

Third Prize: The third-place winner will also enjoy publication, a certificate, and an interview.

All other selected entries will be published in the Issue and will receive a certificate of recognition for their outstanding work.

Submission Guidelines

To maintain fairness and anonymity during the judging process, we ask that poets follow the submission guidelines carefully:

1. All poems must be original and unpublished.

2. No name or bio should be included in the poem file itself. This ensures that all submissions are read anonymously by the judges.

3. Authors should send their bio and headshot separately in the submission form itself.

4. Submissions open on April 1, 2025 and will remain open until further notice.

Who Can Submit?

The contest does not have any restriction regarding age, gender, nationality, and sexuality. Anyone can participate. They just need to believe in the power of words.

Entry Fee

The entry fee for participation is minimal, priced at 200 INR / 3 USD per poem. This fee helps support the administration of the contest and ensures that we can continue offering valuable prizes, publication opportunities, and a platform for poets to gain exposure.
